Arden Richards-Karamarkovich

Arden Richards-Karamarkovich is a PhD candidate in Criminology, Law and Society at George Mason University. She received her M.A. from George Mason University.

Arden’s research agenda focuses on punishment and corrections and critical criminology, with a focus on gendered experiences. Her research has qualitatively explored motherhood in reentry, gendered employment after incarceration, narrative criminology, and identity construction. Her work has been included in Punishment and Society, Feminist Criminology, and Sociology Compass.

Arden’s current research is a qualitative project exploring how formerly-incarcerated individuals understand and make sense of success and survival within systems that create harm including (but not limited to) the criminal legal system.

Arden has experience teaching and/or assisting with classes such as Social Inequality, Crime, and Justice, Research Methods, and Introduction to Criminology.
